At The Place to Be, we want to make sure you know what to expect from a massage session so that you feel completely comfortable before you arrive.
Upon arrival for your first visit, you will be greeted by your therapist and asked to complete a health history form. After being shown to the massage room, your therapist will assess your needs and discuss with you your motivation for getting a massage and your wellness goals. Information concerning your physical condition, medical history, stress, medications, and recent injuries will be discussed, as well as how they may affect your massage therapy outcome.
A massage is usually completed using oil or lotion. If you are allergic to any oils, lotions, or smells please inform your therapist before your session.
It is of extreme importance to us that you are comfortable during your massage sessions. Prior to your massage, your therapist will ask you to remove your clothing down to your comfort level. The therapist will then leave the room while you undress and remove any jewelry or other items that may interfere with the massage. Remove only as much as you are comfortable with removing. Once you are undressed, lie on the massage table, underneath the sheet. Draping is required during a massage, so the sheet will cover your body except for the part being massaged.
At any time during the massage, if you are uncomfortable, need a pillow or blanket, feel the pressure is too much or not enough, or have any other concerns, please let your massage therapist know. Depending upon your needs, your therapist will massage either the full body (except for private areas) or only specific areas that need attention. After your session is completed your therapist will leave the room to allow you to dress in privacy.
